Triangle Steel Ltd. was founded in 1967 by Jack Sommerville and is Calgary’s oldest structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator. Jack got his start in Calgary making skids for Atco Trailers. The skid business quickly evolved into the fabrication and erection of structural and miscellaneous steelwork.

Triangle Steel soon became one of the largest steel companies in Calgary and completed many landmark projects in the Calgary area such as McMahon Stadium, Burns Stadium, Banker Hall, MacEwan Hall (on the U of C campus), The Centre for the Performing Arts, downtown's Shell Court, the award-winning Fish Creek Library and the Lester B. Pearson High School to name a few.

The company was taken over in 1999 by Jack’s son, Philip Sommerville. “I’m doing my best to live up to the reputation of quality and pride in workmanship that my Dad instilled into Triangle Steel. We are constantly striving to improve through our quality control program, our safety program, our computerized drafting including 3-D modeling and our recent acquisition of the latest CNC equipment for the shop.”

Triangle has been a consistent force in the steel industry in Calgary for the past 35 plus years and will continue to be here for many more years to come.
