Triangle Steel Ltd. was founded in 1967 by Jack Sommerville and is Calgary’s oldest structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator. Jack got his start in Calgary making skids for Atco Trailers. The skid business quickly evolved into the fabrication and erection of structural and miscellaneous steelwork.
Triangle Steel soon became one of the largest steel companies in Calgary and completed many landmark projects in the Calgary area such as:McMahon Stadium, Burns Stadium, Banker Hall, MacEwan Hall (on the U of C campus), The Centre for the Performing Arts, downtown's Shell Court, the award-winning Fish Creek Library and the Lester B. Pearson High School to name a few.
The company was taken over in 1999 by Jack’s son, Philip Sommerville. Under Philip's leadership Triangle Steel is constantly striving to improve through our Quality Control program, Safety Program and technology; including our use of computerized 3-D modeling drafting and the CNC equipment at the shop.
Triangle Steel has been a consistent force in the steel industry in Calgary for the past 45 plus years and will continue to be here for many more years to come.
